Labor Secretary Nominee Solis Faces Tax Scrutiny

Democratic Congresswoman from Los Angeles Hilda Solis is the latest Cabinet nominee to face questions about unpaid taxes. The Senate panel postponed a scheduled vote on her confirmation after USA Today reported that her husband had outstanding tax liens against his auto repair business. Larry talks with LA Times Washington correspondent Peter Nicholas about the story.

Hundreds of workers and their supporters marched 10 miles from downtown Los Angeles to the Westwood federal building yesterday to call on Congress to pass the Employee Free Choice Act, aimed at making it easier for workers to join unions. Larry Mantle discusses the arguments for and against the legislation with Greg Good of the Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy and Brian Worth, a volunteer with the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace.
