With Trump having signed the GOP's tax reform legislation this past Friday, we'll discuss reactions on both sides of the aisle as well as what kind of tax breaks and increases to expect in the coming years. We'll also explore a new project aimed at teens in response to the #MeToo campaign; and invite listeners to share their unique holiday traditions on-air.
Week in politics: How voters will remember tax bill signing, both parties’ legislative priorities in 2018 and more
In an impromptu news conference in the Oval Office on Friday, President Trump signed sweeping tax reform legislation in the biggest overhaul of the country’s tax code since the Reagan era.
The White House says that Americans should start seeing more money in their paychecks within the first few months of the new year. We’ll take a closer look at winners and losers, how the bill will impact Californians, and whether it will be helpful or harmful to Republicans in 2018 midterm elections.
Also last week, the Senate passed a stopgap spending measure to fund the government through the new year, up until January 19th in a hastily assembled vote that sat in the shadow of tax reform. Several issues like immigration, national security, and disaster relief funding weren’t addressed in the bill, however, and will no doubt be important items when lawmakers return to Capitol Hill after the new year.
We’ll also take a look ahead to 2018 in politics. What will the Trump administration’s priorities be in the new year? The White House’s legislative affairs director hinted this weekend that infrastructure might be on the horizon. As we head into an election year, how will the balance of the Senate potentially shift heading towards November?

What are your unique holiday family traditions?
Gifts and christmas trees are pretty standard fare for the holidays, but many families have a tradition that’s more unique – and we want to hear yours.
Whether you’re Jewish and you go to a Chinese restaurant for Christmas, or you’re Chinese and you flip the script and get a pastrami on rye at a Jewish deli. Whether you have too many families members to get each a present and instead you do Secret Santa, or no presents at all. Or maybe you and your significant other come from different cultures and you have a unique way of blending customs. We want to hear your stories.
What gift giving (or regifting) system have you worked out to address your family’s specific situation? If you don’t celebrate any of the holidays, what do you like to do on your day off? What cultural traditions do you practice, or incorporate with other kinds of traditions?
