Colorado River Water Negotiations

The deadline for a water transfer deal between Imperial Irrigation District and San Diego County is December 31st. If a deal cannot be struck, the Department of Interior will immediately cut off up to eight hundred thousand acre feet of water per year to Southern California – enough water for about 1.6 million households. Host Larry Mantle talks with Bennet Raley, Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior, Ron Gastelum, President and CEO of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, Maureen Stapleton, General Manager of the San Diego County Water Authority, and Andy Horn, Director of divisioin 1 of the Imperial Irrigation District.

Author Tim Richardson has been a connoisseur of sweets since his grandfather fed him Turkish delight as a small boy, starting a life-long love of candy. Richardson made it his mission to find out everything he could about sweets for his new book Sweets: A History of Candy. It was a tough job, but somebody had to do it. Tim Richardson joins host Larry Mantle to talk all about candy.
