After 911 call to save Christmas decoration dummy, we take your good-samaritan-gone-wrong stories
A retired vet in Austin, TX is walking by a house, sees what he believes to be a guy dangling from the roof, tries to go over and help.
You gotta watch the doorbell video cam footage of this guy’s completely earnest attempts to help get this supposed person down. The guy’s out in the street yelling for help, even calls 911. Turns out it’s a Family Vacation-themed Christmas display and the “person” dangling from the roof is a Clark Griswold dummy.
Which got us thinking… What’s a time when you’ve tried to intervene in a situation with nothing but good intentions only to discover you’ve completely misinterpreted what’s happening? Call us at 866-893-5722.
Should LA limit vacation rentals to ‘primary’ residences only?
The City of Los Angeles has been trying to enact rules to regulate the home vacation rental market for many years.
The latest wrinkle has come in the question of whether homeowners are allowed to rent out their non-primary residences -- second homes or investment properties -- on such platforms on Airbnb and HomeAway.
The fight has pitted two city council members against one another. While Mike Bonin, who represents such beach communities as Mar Vista and Venice, wants to limit short-term vacation rentals to just someone’s primary residence, councilman Mitch Englander want the city to consider setting up a different set of rules for second homes and investment properties.
The full city council is scheduled to vote on the issue Tuesday.

What lies ahead after British PM Theresa May announces ‘Brexit’ deal will be held up
British Prime Minister Theresa May on Monday postponed Parliament's vote on her Brexit divorce deal with the European Union, acknowledging that lawmakers would have rejected it by a "significant margin."
The move averted a humiliating defeat for the government in a vote that had been scheduled for Tuesday. But it throws Britain's Brexit plans into disarray, with the country's departure from the EU just over three months away on March 29.
In an emergency statement to the House of Commons, May accepted that lawmakers had "widespread and deep concern" about some aspects of the divorce deal agreed upon last month between May and EU leaders.
"As a result, if we went ahead and held the vote tomorrow, the deal would be rejected by a significant margin," she said. "We will therefore defer the vote."
May said she would seek "assurances" from the EU and bring the Brexit deal back to Parliament, but did not set a new date for the vote.
Many lawmakers were scathing in their comments about both May's actions and the Brexit deal, and derisive laughter erupted when May claimed there was "broad support" for many aspects of the plan.
