On Tuesday, the Department of Homeland Security gave Border Patrol Agents new powers to deport undocumented aliens caught within 100 miles of the Mexican and Canadian borders, if they have been in the US for up to 14 days. Larry Mantle is joined by Asa Hutchinson, undersecretary for border security at the Department of Homeland Security, Mark Krikorian, Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies, Meredith Brown, immigration defense attorney and Michael Cutler, fellow at the center for immigration studies and a former senior special agent with the INS in New York.

Battle in Najaf

U.S. and Iraqi forces are fighting to crush the resistance led by Iraqi militants loyal to renegade Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr in Najaf. Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi called on insurgents to drop their weapons and leave the holy Imam Ali Mosque in the sacred section of the city. Hal Kempfer, a military analyst for ABC 7 News and a Lt. Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserves and Imam Sayed Moustapha Al Qazwini, the Imam of the Islamic Center of Orange County, located in Costa Mesa.
