After months of promised budget cuts and predicted huge deficits in the L.A. County Health budget, the L.A. Times reported Friday that L.A. County Health Services finds itself sitting on a $103 million surplus for this year. Larry and guests Dr. Thomas Garthwaite, Director of Los Angeles County Health Services, Zev Yaroslavsky, County Supervisor for the 3rd Supervisorial District, and Melinda Bird, Senior Attorney with Protection and Advocacy will put the surplus in perspective, talk about where this money comes from, and how it will be spent.
