The LAUSD Board of Education is planning to place a nearly $4 billion bond measure on the Nov. 8 special election ballot. $1.6 billion of the total would go for school construction. Larry speaks with Jim McConnell, Chief Facilities Executive for LAUSD and Glenn Gritzner, Special Assistant to Superintendent Romer, about the district’s new and recent school construction.

THE PAYCHECK PROTECTION ACT

The November 8th special election ballot includes a measure proposed by business and conservative Republicans that would require public employee unions to get permission from workers before spending dues for political purposes. The so-called Paycheck Protection initiative, Proposition 75 is considered a major threat to labor's clout in the Capitol. Larry Mantle speaks with representatives from both sides.
