According to a recent LA Times article, there is surge in the number of teens landing in emergency rooms or drug treatment centers due to the use of high potency marijuana now widely available. Guest host Patt Morrison talks with Ron Plotts, the Clinical Director of Phoenix House in Lakeview Terrace, about a possible crisis of marijuana use in adolescents and the social factors that contribute to drug abuse in teens.

In her new book The Cultural Defense (Oxford University Press), Alison Dundes Renteln examines hundreds of court cases involving customs and religious beliefs linked to animal cruelty, alleged drug abuse and mistreatment of the dead. She joins Patt Morrison to discuss how immigrants in America struggle to preserve their culture while trying to conform to U.S. laws.
