This charge could block the leading Presidential contender from the ballot in 2006, and create a political crisis in Mexico. Larry talks with Political Science Professor, Denise Dresser, Sam Quinones, staff writer for the LA Times, and Luis Estrada, visiting researcher at the Center for US Mexican Studies at UCSD about this political drama.
Orange County Journalist “Roundtable”
Larry Mantle talks with Orange County Register op-ed column editor Chris Reed, OC Weekly staff writer Gustavo Arellano, and LA Times staff writer Jean Pasco about the latest news events and developments in Orange County.
Blogs vs. The Mainstream Media
Alex Ben Block, Entertainment journalist, Editor of Television Week, former editor of The Hollywood Reporter and regular commentator on KPCC’s “Call Sheet.” joins Larry to talk about the growth of blogs as a form of news and how it’s changing the rules of American journalism.
The World Is Flat: A Brief History Of The Twenty-First Century
In his new book, New York Times foreign affairs columnist Thomas Friedman deconstructs how the economic revolution of globalization has affected our world, and the course of this century. Friedman writes that globalization has blurred state lines and created a more egalitarian atmosphere in which international trade can flourish, creating middle classes in Developing Nations where none existed before, due in part to outsourcing and made possible by the Internet. Mr. Friedman joins Larry to discuss his new book, The World Is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-First Century.
