IMMIGRATION BILLS STALL
Yesterday it looked promising that the Senate would succeed in passing a compromise bill on immigration reform. But it stalled late in the day and chances are no action will be taken at least until after the two-week Easter recess that begins today. The prospects for any kind of reform is starting to look dubious, but President Bush is still pushing lawmakers to reach an agreement. Larry talks with Newsweek’s Arian Campo-Flores about this latest development in immigration reform.
LEAKER AND CHIEF?
Court papers filed by the prosecutor in the CIA leak case against I. Lewis ``Scooter'' Libby said the President himself authorized Libby to disclose information from a classified intelligence report. This could have enormous political repercussions for the President. Larry talks to Congresswoman Jane Harman (D-36) and legal scholar Doug Kmiec about this startling revelation.
JUDAS...NOT SUCH A BAD FELLOW AFTER ALL
The name Judas is synonyms with betrayal...or is it? A group of researchers, working with the National Geographic Society, has discovered the only known text of what is known as "The Gospel of Judas". According to this 1,700-year-old papyrus document, which has now been authenticated through scientific means, Judas did not betray Jesus. Rather, he was responding to a request from Christ when he turned him over to authorities. Larry talks to Marvin Meyer, a biblical scholar, about this startling and sure-to-be-controversial discovery.
