Auntie Diluvium
This week, we bring you three takes on the brand new master plan for the LA River.
Take One: KPCC's Ilsa Setziol gives us the low-down on the river plan. The upshot: Keep hope alive
LA River - Take Two
Sam Hall Kaplan is lukewarm on the LA River Plan.
Take Three: Down By the LA River
John Rabe talks to author Joe Linton Down by the Los Angeles River, which also happens to be the name of his book.
Vija Celmins
In the late 1960s, Vija Celmins created hyper-realistic drawings of the ocean. Since then, she's emerged as one of the most important artists of our time. UCLA's Hammer Museum is showing a retrospective of Celmins' drawings and Queena Kim went to the opening.
Okies at the Getty
John goes to the Getty to hear stories of the old days from local art icons Ed Ruscha, Jerry McMillan, and Mason Williams. They grew up together in Oklahoma City.
Astronauts and Cupids
The connection? Commentator Marc Haefele's Valentine musings on the power of Cupid's arrow.
Crack Time
LA Daily Journal reporter Anat Rubin reports to John Rabe that many more Skid Row junkies are being busted for selling crack.
Crossing Guard
When the last bell rings at Jordan High school in Watts, gang members file out of the Jordan Downs housing project next door to monitor the students walking through their turf. Watching over the students is Pastor Michael Cummings. The good pastor makes sure the students get home safely.
This piece was produced by Queena Kim and originally aired on Pacific Drift.
Mighty Mo
A few months ago we met ten-year old champion boxer Mighty Mo Orozco from Long Beach. He's shooting for a medal in the 2016 Olympics. Thanks in part to Off-Ramp, Mighty Mo is a pitchman for bringing the Olympics to LA.
Radio Lolly
KPCC's Susan Valot takes us to Children's Hospital Orange County where they're using radio to build bridges between sick kids.
Call Sheet
The Call Sheet gang tells us how President Bush's budget cuts funding to public television.
Paolo Nutini
Loving You, from Nutini's album These Streets
