Leroy Anderson - the man behind "Sleighride"
To me, "Sleighride" is one of the best holiday songs around. It's evocative, it includes a whip, and you even get sense of the trombones from marching band getting to let loose. Since the state of California expressly forbids playing or writing about "Sleighride" after December 31st, while we still have time, here's Craig Curtis's report on its composer, Leroy Anderson.
