About the Show

Over 11 years and 570 episodes, John Rabe and Team Off-Ramp scoured SoCal for the people, places, and ideas whose stories needed to be told, and the show became a love-letter to Los Angeles. Now, John is sharing selections from the Off-Ramp vault to help you explore this imperfect paradise.

Hard Times: Kevin Ferguson visits Homeless Connect Day
Pat Riley, Salvation Army

On a wet Tuesday morning this past October, Off-Ramp's Kevin Ferguson went to Pasadena's annual Homeless Connect Day. He heard stories from several homeless people and service providers

Organizations like the Salvation Army, Union Station, Pacific Clinics and local government from all around the area joined forces to connect local homeless and low income residents to free and low cost services. They could get eye exams, haircuts, housing, and a free lunch.

From top to bottom, the interviews are:

Pat Riley, director of Social Services with the Pasadena Salvation Army.
Maggie Crawford, head of the Pet Therapy program at Huntington Hospital
Joyce Miles, director of the Union Station Homeless Services in Pasadena
Tanya and Michelle Biggs, two sisters currently looking for housing.
