Our state laws regarding cellphone use while at the wheel of our cars, and while we're riding on two wheels, are staying status quo. Tuesday, Governor Jerry Brown vetoed State Bill 28, which would have seen fines for illegal cellphone use while driving double. The bill also included new legislation that would have applied to bicyclists' use of cellphones.

27-year-old Christian Borro thought he was driving on borrowed time in a car he'd stolen. He pulled alongside a Los Angeles Police Department squad car on Monday morning and declared to the officers: "I just stole this car." As one might expect, the cops were intrigued, and pulled Borro over to look into his claim.

The USS Iowa, a vessel used in battle during World War II, is headed to a new home in the Port of Los Angeles. The Navy has announced that the ship has been awarded to the Pacific Battleship Center, a nonprofit organization, and the Iowa will ultimately call Berth 87 in San Pedro home.

A stabbing on the grounds of the L.A. County Fair in Pomona led to the arrest of three men Sunday night. The incident took place at around 10 p.m., and involved two groups of people who broke into a fight in an area of the fairgrounds where liquor is sold.
