In the city built in part by the film biz, it's surprising we don't have a definitive film museum. Now, the pairing of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) means we are on the way to getting a movie museum.

The brick-and-mortar location for the mobile sensation Coolhaus was anticipated to open this summer, but, as in most cases with eateries, there have been some delays. Today the Coolhaus gals assure fans of their quirky ice cream sandwiches that they will open no later than November 1st in their Culver City storefront.

A vehicle with two adult female occupants crashed through the entrance of the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza mall this morning, and came to a stop dangling about 20 feet over the edge of a second-story balcony. The Los Angeles Fire Department say the car traveled about 70 feet through the front doors.

Mattel is the world's biggest toy-making company, and their Barbie doll one of the world's most iconic. In June, Greenpeace climbed up the side of Mattel's El Segundo headquarters, and unfurled a banner declaring that Barbie's longtime love Ken was dumping his main squeeze because of Mattel's eco-unfriendly packaging practices. It turns out, Mattel listened.

An unidentified man died this morning after jumping from a parking structure on the USC campus. The man is thought to have jumped at about 7:15 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department, who have been investigating the incident.

Street artist Mr. Brainwash likes to go big, and since he calls L.A. home, this is where he is set to launch what is being called "his largest and most ambitious Los Angeles exhibition to date."
