After a nine-hour standoff with police, a man who barricaded himself in a Downey apartment has been arrested, reports ABC News. The incident began last night when Jeffrey Zuniga, 24, allegedly threatened his 18-year-old niece with a gun during a fight. The girl called the police, and Zuniga left the location of their argument and went to his mother's apartment on Elm Vista Drive and Bellflower Boulevard in Downey.

It's almost always bad news for pot growers when authorities are called to their homes, even if it's actually to protect and serve. One Rosemead homeowner just learned this the hard way. Firefighters were called to the individual's home at about 7:00 p.m. last night in response to smoke coming from the house, according to the Pasadena Star-News.

A 23-year-old mentally disabled mom and her 4-week-old daughter were found unharmed in a motel near the intersection of South Western Ave. and Martin Luther King Blvd. in Leimert Park, reports CBS News. Kathy Nicole Leath and her baby, Genesis True Leath, went missing on Saturday while grocery shopping with Kathy's uncle and caretaker, Cortez Leath.

Heavy rainfall may have been the culprit in the death of an 11-year-old girl who was killed yesterday after being struck by a boulder during a hike in San Bernardino, reports ABC News. The girl, whose name hasn't been released, was hit on the head by the falling rock while hiking near a waterfall at Forest Falls. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Since the suicide of Russell Armstrong on August 15, Bravo has been answering questions about how it will proceed with the second season of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," set to air tonight. The network announced on August 19 that they would re-edit the show, but didn't clarify whether footage of Russell, the estranged husband of cast member Taylor Armstrong, will stay in or not.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding a 23-year-old woman who went missing over the weekend along with her 4-week-old daughter. According to a statement issued this morning by the LAPD, Kathy Nicole Leath and her daughter, Genesis True Leath, were last seen by her uncle Cortez Leath at the Ralph's on San Vicente and Pico at about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

A man who allegedly drove drunk and killed his nephew is expected to be arraigned on murder charges today, reports the OC Register. Tapu Aniceto Sitagata, 27, was drinking at the Newport Five Cocktail Lounge in Tustin on the night of Dec. 20, 2010. He became so intoxicated that both a bartender and a police officer separately offered to call him a cab, but he refused.

Four clinics in the San Fernando Valley have been shut down after a federal raid allegedly found them handing out illegal prescriptions for OxyContin, reports the Daily News. Two of the clinics were in Reseda, one was in Northridge and one was in Van Nuys. The raid was prompted by a number of recent overdoses, and was carried out by officials from local, state and federal organizations, including the FBI, LAPD and the California Department of Justice.

There's no such thing as a free lunch, but there was such thing as free weed for folks who came across an overturned truck in San Jose that was carrying bags of marijuana, according to the San Jose Mercury News. The truck crashed near the intersection of Blossom Hill Road and Playa Del Rey at about 12:50 a.m. yesterday, spilling its contents, which were being transported illegally, all over the roadway.
