Hundreds of people marched through downtown Los Angeles on Friday, joining a nationwide call-to-action on Independence Day to protest recent federal immigration enforcement sweeps.

The “End the Occupation” march, organized by 50501 SoCal, began Friday morning outside City Hall. The group looped along a 1.5-mile planned route on West Cesar Chavez Avenue, Grand Avenue and back to Spring Street, according to our media partners at KCAL News.

Here were some of the scenes from the march:

Crowds also gathered outside a federal building in downtown L.A.’s Civic Center where troops were seen standing at the building's entrance.

The Los Angeles Police Department issued several traffic advisories as the rally made its way through the area.
