'Hill Street Blues' Actor Robert Prosky, 1930-2008

The veteran actor Robert Prosky was perhaps best known for his role as the big-hearted desk sergeant Stan Jablonski on Hill Street Blues. He died Monday at the age of 77.

Character actor Robert Prosky was perhaps best known for his role as the big-hearted desk sergeant Stan Jablonski on Hill Street Blues. He died Monday at the age of 77 after complications from a heart procedure.
Among many other credits, his other film and theater roles include Judge Henry Harper in Miracle on 34th Street and a desperate real estate salesman in the Broadway premiere of David Mamet's play Glengarry Glen Ross.
Prosky, a District resident for nearly 50 years, died Dec. 8 at Washington Hospital Center.
