With Enrollment Declining, Pasadena Unified Votes To Close 3 Elementary Schools
Leaders of the cash-strapped Pasadena Unified school system have decided to close three of the district’s 17 elementary schools. School board members say dwindling enrollment numbers gave them little choice.
The school board voted to close Roosevelt, Franklin and Jefferson elementary schools next year. Parents said they only recently discovered that the closures were under consideration and felt blindsided by the decision.
Pasadena Unified officials say they may move to close middle or even high schools next month.
