Voters to Decide On Parcel Tax Measure To Help Fund LAUSD
Voters across the L.A. Unified School District will decide today whether to raise their own taxes. If they do, Measure EE would enact a parcel tax on some residential and commercial properties of 16 cents per square foot to help fund the school system.
Business groups, developers, realtors and anti-tax organizations have raised $1.6 million to urge a 'no' vote on the tax. All told, parcel tax backers have raised at least triple what opponents have raised. But supporters have the bigger hill to climb: Measure EE needs a two-thirds majority to pass.
