Villanueva rehires two more deputies fired by Sheriff McDonnell

This story aired on April 4, 2019.

KPCC's Public Safety Correspondent Frank Stoltze discusses how L.A. Sheriff Alex Villanueva has hired two more deputies who had been fired by former Sheriff Jim McDonnell. One, Michael Courtial, had been fired for using unreasonable force and failing to de-escalate a situation. The sheriff declined to name the other deputy or provide details about his case.
