A controlled burn that spiraled out of control near Victorville on Tuesday had grown to 185 acres by Wednesday morning, according to fire officials.

The River Bottom Fire was expected to continue to burn heavily on Wednesday, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Department.

Mandatory evacuations were lifted overnight, though Riverside Drive in Apple Valley remained open to residents only, according to an announcement made via the department's Twitter account.
