Recycling Center Closures Leave Cash-Strapped Californians With Fewer Options
In many parts of Los Angeles, it’s getting harder to find a nearby beverage container recycling center that will pay for your empty bottles and cans.
Earlier this week, a company called rePlanet went out of business, closing dozens of locations in L.A. Since 2015, the number of recycling centers in L.A. County has declined by 31 percent. Many customers now have to travel farther to earn what can be a crucial source of income.
