New suspect sketch released in killing of 2 Redlands teens
Eight months after an unknown assailant gunned down two Redlands teenagers, police have still made no arrests. Authorities are renewing their call for help in finding the shooter.
Police have released a new sketch and description of the man who shot the teenagers outside a north Redlands apartment building last January.
The suspected gunman is a light-skinned Latino male, about 19 years old. He allegedly stalked a group of teenagers before he opened fire.
Gunshots killed 17-year-old Quinn McCaleb and 16-year-old Andrew Jackson and wounded two other boys. All of the victims are African-American.
Some people link the attack to escalating racial tension in the neighborhood, or retaliation for a previous conflict. Police believe people in the neighborhood know what happened but have not come forward to help the investigation.
The killings shook a usually tranquil Inland city known for its stately private university and historic Craftsman houses. It sparked an interfaith march and peace vigil that drew hundreds of people.
