Nearly 12,000 still without power following weekend storm
Nearly 12,000 people around Southern California were still without power Tuesday morning as a result of the weekend storm.
Rain and driving winds on Sunday and Monday toppled trees and power poles and snapped off dried-out palm fronds and branches, sending them into power lines and causing outages.
As of 6 a.m., about 6,800 Los Angeles customers still had no electricity, according to a statement from the Department of Water and Power.
The most heavily impacted communities include Exposition Park and Larchmont, with about 1,400 affected customers each, DWP said.
Crews worked through the night trying to restore power.
Southern California Edison also reported power was down for about 5,000 customers.
