My family tried to ditch single-use plastic. Here's how it went.
My family made a New Year's resolution: no single-use plastic — at least for the month of January. The world's plastic waste problem is becoming increasingly obvious. Researchers say that in 30 years, the ocean could have more plastic than fish.
We wanted to see if we, as a family of four, could eliminate the plastic waste we've become accustomed to producing.
One year ago, Congress voted to defund public media, eliminating a critical $1.7 million from our budget every year going forward. But they couldn’t silence us, and we’re not going anywhere. LAist is now 100% community funded and that means we’re taking our future into our own hands and turning to you to keep local reporting strong.
