LAX Proud Bird restaurant to remain open for now
The Proud Bird, a 48-year-old aviation themed restaurant next to LAX, was set to close at the end of this month, but now the historic spot will stay open at least another year, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The steak and seafood spot where diners can ogle vintage planes on the front lawn was set to close due to a rent increase, said John Tallichet, head of Specialty Restaurants Corp., according to the Daily Breeze.
But now Tallichet has agreed in principle to a one-year lease with Los Angeles World Airports, pending approval from the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners, who will likely take up the matter in January, the Daily Breeze reported.

The new lease will decrease the originally proposed rent, which was set to go from $200,000 to $500,000 a year, but Tallichet is still looking into ways to cut expenses, reported the Times.
