LA radio news station KFWB for sale
CBS Radio is preparing to sell local talk station KFWB-AM 980 due to Federal Communications Commission regulations, according to the Los Angeles Business Journal.
CBS was first told eight years ago to get rid of one of its Los Angeles properties because they exceeded the limits on the number of stations one owner can hold in a market.
KFWB is being put into a trust run by radio industry veteran Bill Clark, which will attempt to sell the station. Due to the economy, though, it may not sell.
Likely buyers for the station are foreign-language broadcasters, so KFWB will likely cease being a local news station.
CBS chose to sell KFWB because the station has the lowest ratings and the weakest signal of CBS's Los Angeles properties.
