Hammerhead shark attacks kayaker near PCH
Ventura County sheriff's officials assisted a kayaker who was bit by a hammerhead shark Saturday.

A hammerhead shark bit a kayaker on Saturday afternoon, according to officials with the Ventura County Fire Department.
The kayaker, who was identified as a male in his 20s, was attacked off the shore near Deer Creek Road at 2:40 p.m. as he and another separate kayaker were attempting to make it to shore, officials told KPCC.
The kayaker was bitten possibly somewhere on his lower body, but the severity and exact location of the bite wasn't known, according to officials. He was transported to a local hospital.
