Halloween Costume Carnaval: WeHo celebrates with Queen Latifah

About a half-million people, including the one-and-only Queen Latifah, are expected to celebrate Halloween Thursday at West Hollywood's annual Halloween Costume Carnaval.
“You will see people in costumes. You will see people taking pictures of people in costumes. You have opportunities to hear entertainment,” said West Hollywood Mayor Abbe Land. "This year will be another great and fun exciting carnival."
The city has been putting on the Halloween event since 1987, and this year's theme is Noir Night.
Every year, a "Queen of the Carnaval" is crowned, and this year it will be "a real queen — and that's Queen Latifah," Land said. The crowning will happen at 9 p.m. on the main stage, which is near San Vicente and Santa Monica.
There will be six stages of entertainment in all; more than 50 artists are expected to perform. The carnival starts at 6 p.m and runs until 11p.m on Santa Monica Boulevard between Doheny Drive and La Cienega Boulevard. Admission is free.
Street Closures:
There will also be several street closures in and around the carnival — including Santa Monica Boulevard from La Cienega to Doheny Drive; and San Vicente Boulevard between Melrose Avenue and Santa Monica.

Parking:
Parking can be found throughout West Hollywood. Permit parking will be suspended, but meters will continue to be enforced.
You can also avoid parking troubles by taking the city's FrakenRide, a shuttle that will stop at Metro bus stops along Santa Monica Boulevard between Plummer Park and La Cienega Boulevard. The shuttle will begin transporting attendees at 6:30 p.m. and run approximately every 15 minutes until 1 a.m.
