Growing brush fire prompts evacuations at Getty Center, nearby areas
Hand crews and seven helicopters are fighting a brush fire that started this afternoon in the Sepulveda Pass, three-quarters of a mile north of the Getty Center.
Los Angeles City Fire Chief Douglas Barry says firefighters are getting some well-timed help from the wind.
Chief Douglas Barry: "The wind right now is coming off the ocean, which is a cooler wind. It’s not like a Santa Ana which is dry warm or hot wind, so we have very favorable conditions.
"We don’t predict any strong winds. We don’t expect the wind to change at all. Right now about 6 miles per hour, fairly calm. So we're pretty confident that we're gonna have a handle on this very, you know, before too long."

Staff and visitors have evacuated the Getty Center and Mount St. Mary’s College. Officials have issued a voluntary evacuation warning for the Mountaingate neighborhood nearby.
