The state-owned Fairview Developmental Center in Costa Mesa is slated to close at the end of 2019. Gov. Gavin Newsom is asking that part of the facility be leased to a local jurisdiction to house 200 chronically homeless individuals.

Gov. Gavin Newsom's revised budget proposal calls for setting aside a building or set of buildings at Fairview Developmental Center in Costa Mesa to house 200 people experiencing homelessness and mental illness.
