Flash flood watch extended for Inland Empire

The National Weather Service has extended a flash flood warning for the Inland Empire a day after rain and heavy winds damaged homes and forced water rescues in Riverside County.
The flash flood watch is now in effect from 10 a.m. through Monday evening and encompasses the mountains and deserts in San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
More than three inches of rain are possible in some areas as thunderstorms develop during the afternoon, according to the NWS statement.
Eight people had to be rescued after becoming trapped in vehicles that were caught in a flash flood in Riverside Sunday, according to NBC4.
The NWS reminds Southern California residents that flash flooding can develop miles from the storm and create dangerous flows in normally dry creek beds.
The storm on Sunday dropped as much three inches of rain in Hemet and two inches of rain in the San Jacinto Mountains, NBC4 reports.
