Fatal gang-related shooting in Pacoima 2nd this week
PACOIMA — Authorities announced a man was killed today in a gang-related shooting in Pacoima, the second homicide in the community in four days.
The shooting occurred around 5 p.m. near 10180 Laurel Canyon Blvd., near Terra Bella Street, said Officer Gregory Baek of the Los Angeles Police Department.
"The victim, a male Hispanic in his 20s, was approached by two male Hispanics and a verbal altercation of some sort occurred,'' Baek said. "At that time, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and shot the victim multiple times.''
The victim, whose name was withheld, was pronounced dead at the scene, Baek said.
Police believe the shooting was gang-related, he said.
A 21-year-old woman was fatally shot and three other people were wounded around 10:05 p.m. Tuesday at 13205 Pinney St., near San Fernando Road, in a shooting police believe was either drug- or gang-related.
