Dozens arrested near UCLA following labor protests (video)
Hundreds of University of California workers gathered to protest near UCLA on Friday as part of a contract dispute, in the process blocking traffic at one of the city's busiest intersections, KCAL9 reports.
Aerial video showed 25 people sitting in a circle in the middle of the intersection of Westwood and Wilshire boulevards.
Police said once they ordered the crowd to disperse, everyone complied except for those in the street.
"Those 25 individuals who remained in the street, seated, were subsequently arrested for failing to disperse," said Officer Gregory Baek.
The rally was called to protest the UC’s announcement that it will “unilaterally impose” its last contract offer for 12,000 of the university system’s patient care technical workers, union organizers told KCAL9.
