Brush fire burns near Burbank homes

A fire burned Wednesday afternoon, June 28, 2017 near Burbank homes.

A fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon in Burbank was threatening homes. It was at least the third fire in as many days amid red flag conditions.
The fire burned 10 acres and was 60 to 70 percent contained as of shortly before 5 p.m., KPCC media partner NBC L.A. reported, citing the Burbank Fire Department.
Mandatory evacuations were issued for all homes on Viewcrest Drive and Howard Court, according to the Burbank Police Department. Some streets were also closed, including Irving Drive east of Kenneth Road and Joaquin Drive at Haven Way.
The McCambridge Rec Center was being used as an evacuation center, according to the Burbank PD. It is at 1515 North Glenoaks Boulevard in Burbank.
Air and ground crews from the L.A. Fire Department were assisting the Burbank FD.
A second fire, the Manzanita Fire, has been burning since Monday south of Beaumont. The Mart Fire continues to burn in the San Bernardino Mountain foothills.
