An attorney for the family of a local woman slain in Cancun, Mexico, told KNX-AM 1070 radio today that an arrest in the case is imminent.

Monica Beresford-Redman, a native of Brazil who ran a Brazilian restaurant in West Los Angeles, was found dumped in a septic tank at Hotel Moon Palace on April 8.

Her husband Bruce Beresford-Redman, formerly a producer for "Survivor," was immediately questioned in the apparent strangulation death and told not to leave the country.

And, today, an attorney for the wife's family is telling KNX exclusively that an arrest is expected within 24 hours, possibly today. The attorney told KNX that all indications point to the husband as the suspect.

Last week, the woman's family sought advice from from Los Angeles County prosecutors, but a spokeswoman for the District Attorney's Office said the case was beyond the jurisdiction of any U.S. authorities.

Bruce Beresford-Redman reportedly is in the custody of the U.S. consulate in Merida on the mainland.

Last week, prosecutors in Cancun said they were waiting on pathology tests and DNA tests before moving forward with the case.

Internet gossip sites have reported that the couple had gone with their two small children to Cancun to reconcile after a fight over a six-month affair the TV producer was supposedly having with a casting director.

According to Cancun police, the couple was heard having a fight, with furniture possibly being thrown, on the morning of April 5. The next day, Bruce told police Monica had disappeared on a shopping trip.

Her body was found three days later in a cesspool several hundred feet from the room where they were staying at the swanky resort.
