3 arrested after shooting at San Bernardino police
Officers returned fire Thursday after three people shot at their unmarked vehicle. No officers were hurt, but a 17-year-old suspect was hit by police fire.

Three suspects, including at least one teenager, have been arrested after opening fire on police in San Bernardino.
One of the suspects, identified as a 17-year-old male, was shot in the abdomen in an exchange of gunfire and is expected to recover.
The officers had been out on patrol and searching for gang members in the 2500 or 2600 block of West Fifth Street at 8:41 p.m. Thursday, according to San Bernardino Police Lt. Rich Lawhead.
The officers saw the three suspects jump a wall, but when they approached in their unmarked vehicle, the suspects opened fire, Lawhead told KPCC.

The officers exited their vehicle and returned fire, and all three suspects fled across the parking lot of the Terrace Motel on West Foothill Boulevard. On the other side, the suspects encountered a marked police vehicle. Two gang officers in that vehicle attempted to make contact and ultimately shot at the suspects, hitting the 17-year-old, who is now in stable condition.
The other two suspects fled the scene, but officers tracked one of them to a motel room and the other to his residence at a nearby mobile home park, Lawhead said. Both were arrested.
"Of the three subjects, all of them show some sort of gang affiliation of some sort. Either associated or documented member," Lawhead told KPCC.
An investigation is still in progress. No officers were hurt.
Lawhead said it was a busy night for police. A murder and another shooting took place at around the same time. Units from the Redlands and Rialto police departments were brought in to assist with calls.
