2 horses get loose in Sylmar, caught by Animal Services
Two horses got loose in a Sylmar neighborhood early today. Los Angeles police officers helped keep an eye on them until Animal Services workers arrived with a trailer.
"Possibly a gate was left open and they wandered," said Sgt. Ashraf Hanna of the Los Angeles Police Department's Mission Station, who earlier went to the scene.
Animal Services first requested police assistance around 3:15 a.m., Hanna said. Officers watched the horses for about an hour while the animal specialists went for a trailer.
One of the horses was brown, one was white with dark spots, and both appeared to have horseshoes, Hanna said, adding he's not an equine specialist.
"They're fine," Hanna said of the horses. "They seemed to be well-kept. They were just eating the grass on the side of the road."
