More LA spots to try
  • Since the Sprinkles 24-hour cupcake automat opened for business on Tuesday, it has been insanely popular. At some points lines stretched halfway down the block, sometimes running 50 people deep—even when the bakery staffed by actual live humans was open.
  • The inaugural Los Angeles Beerathon is fast approaching, but all 26 locations on the Downtown "course" are being kept under wraps, with one location and one beer selection revealed each day via the event's Facebook page.
  • Because Refinery29 thinks their 17 selections are! Their picks run the gamut, from the K-Town cozy classic The Prince, the take-it-off Jumbo's Clown Room, to the not-really-divey (aka c'mon, they don't belong in this list) like The Thirsty Crow and the more kitschy Tiki-Ti.
  • Sprinkles' snack food revolution starts today, when their highly-touted 24-hour-access "automat" goes into service Tuesday morning. "Starting today at 10am, customers will be able to purchase freshly baked cupcakes from 24-Hour Sprinkles!" a Sprinkles rep tells us.
  • Are you a licker, a muncher, or a dunker? Hey, now: We're talking about how you eat your creme sandwich cookies! Sheesh. On March 6, 1912, the Oreo cookie was first made by the Nabisco company in New York, so today marks the 100th birthday of the famous chocolate sandwich creme cookie.
  • A few more details are circulating about Chef Gordon Ramsay's upcoming eatery at The Grove. Called The Fat Cow, the European-inspired pub will offer a "relaxed, rustic neighborhood dining environment," and "authentic, quality, fresh cuisine utilizing ingredients from all local farms and purveyors," notes a press release about the venture.
