This spin on Oktoberfest features with a variety of dumpling styles -- Korean, Chinese, vegan, sweet. To T, or not to T? - D'Lo Solo Play
Los Angeles LGBT Center -- 1625 Schrader Blvd., Hollywood
Written and performed by queer/trans Tamil Sri Lankan-American actor and comic D'Lo (Looking, Transparent, Sense 8), this solo show is a hilarious reflection on taking T(estosterone) and his experiences transitioning. D'Lo shares what's expected when one passes as a cisgender, straight, man of color and how he embodies a masculinity that "upholds his queer & feminist politic."

Echo Park United Methodist Church -- 1226 N. Alvarado St., Echo Park
Grand Performances presents the performance series, conceived and curated by Rubén Martínez, that explores L.A.'s history through under-told stories. This edition focuses on the arrival of refugees from war-torn countries to L.A. in 1984. That migration transformed the Pico-Union neighborhood, turning it into "Little Central America." Sanctuaries were established to protect people from zealous immigration policies, one of which was at the Echo Park United Methodist Church. The production uses poetry, music, dance and imagery to represent that period.

For nearly 25 years, the foundation has hosted a festival that celebrates all things LGBT, erotic, beautiful, taboo and fringe. Guests can view the works of 50 artists, including Ruben Esparza, Rick Castro and Miguel Angel Reyes, and make their own art during life drawing sessions. The weekend also includes film screenings, a live auction and an awards ceremony. Food and beverage will be available for purchase.

The new photography exhibition of more than 70 artists examines of civilization's relationship with barriers, both real and imagined. Organized into six sections -- Delineation, Defense, Deterrent, The Divine, Decoration, The Invisible -- the show explores different uses and aspects for these barriers. Cal Poly's 27th Annual Pumpkin Festival opens this weekend with thousands of pumpkins on sale for $5 each, plus entertainment and family activities such as hay rides, corn mazes, a sunflower patch, an insect fair, pony rides and a petting zoo. Play games in student-run booths or buy food made from student-grown produce. Contests include pumpkin pie-eating and seed-spitting. The fest runs through Oct. 31.

The arts cooperative holds its sixth multigenre festival, kicking things off with the launch of SKEW magazine, which explores the connections between pop culture and personal identity. The party includes a bar, a panel discussion, live performances and interactive installations. The fest continues showcasing the work of artists on Oct. 11 with Más Caras, a multimedia visual art installation by Evelyn Quijas Godínez (at Nous Tous in Chinatown).

Indian Diwali Festival

The museum celebrates the Indian festival of lights with live performances by choreographer Ramya Harishankar's Arpana Dance Co. and Punam Kumar's Kathak Company, accompanied by Sid Phillar. Listen and watch as classical Indian beats converge with '70s Bollywood, created by the Sadhus of Bass. DJ/producer Ameet Mehta and tabla artist Robin Sukhadia round out the lineup to present visuals and sound inspired by Bollywood funk and Indian classical music.
