Upcoming storm forecast
The National Weather Service forecasts light showers to come to the southland Friday night into Saturday morning. The good news is that this system won't bring as much precipitation as the previous storms, meaning we'll see light scattered showers all day Saturday and by Sunday afternoon the storm should be moving out.
Here's an update on the predicted rainfall totals for the southland. As of now models show the storm is expected to drop between a quarter inch to up to an inch of rain between now and Sunday.

This will be a much cooler system with daytime highs in the upper 50s to low 60s, so make sure to bundle up. Snow levels will reach 6,000 feet Saturday and drop to 4,000 feet Sunday.
About 2 to 3 inches of snow is expected in Wrightwood and Big Bear. The Grapevine and the Interstate 5 corridor could see a couple inches of snow.
All eyes are on the Sierra Nevada right now as it's projected that the storm will bring over 10 feet of snow to the region. A blizzard warning has been issued for a stretch of the Sierra Nevada until Sunday morning, from north of Lake Tahoe to south of Yosemite National Park.
This day in history
On this day in 1884, the wettest February in San Diego history ended on this day with 9.05 inches

LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
