Though the next incarnation won't be identical, rest assured "some form of this will return." Stay tuned!...
  • Here's the thing about Dr. Dog, they're so much better than their name suggests. The six man band unleashed a psychedelic soundbath on the people of the Wiltern last Friday (11/5/10) crossing The Animals with The Beach Boys for a dark blue hue of rock sunshine that alternates loud and gentle. • Tomorrow night, Tavin Boutique in Echo Park will curate an eclectic mix of vintage and designer clothing, literary stylings and wine. The fourth installment of their Little Birds Reading Series will showcase the work of three writers whose work is perfectly suited for this shop that feels both timeless and au courant all at once.

  • Turns out, when iconic landscape photographer Ansel Adams wasn't off in the wilderness, he was hired for commercial jobs, like documenting Los Angeles' aviation industry for Fortune magazine and capturing street scenes of 1940s life. According to NPR, Adams donated the collection to the Los Angeles Public Library in the 1960s estimating the value at $100 stating, "The weather was bad over a rather long period and none of the pictures were very good."...

Photo by Barbara Kallir It's no accident that the title of the Son of Semele Ensemble's new production, On Emotion, sounds something more like a treatise or philosophical contemplation than a drama. Originally presented in the UK as part of a series of theater essays "On" one or another fundamental human condition (Love, Death, Ego, Religion, Truth, and so on), the play was co-written by theater artist Mick Gordon...
