  • Tonight at 12:15am is the season finale of Adult Swim's "NTSF:SD:SUV::" and we got the chance to speak with one of the series' stars, Brandon Johnson, who plays the very stern and very procedural Alphonse.
  • It’s a big night for art parties tonight around town. Tonight, the A+D Museum celebrates Eames Designs; the Norton Simon in Pasadena opens Proof: The Rise of Printmaking in Southern California; and there’s a literary feast at Taylor De Cordoba gallery tonight. Read on for all the details.
  • RJ Colleary's underdog drama, Addition by Subtraction, is currently playing at El Centro Theatre. The plot follows a misunderstood and unlikely avenger as he attempts deliverance through vigilante tactics. Addition by Subtraction lacks originality but does feature capable performers, emotionally charged monologues, and a thoughtful set.
  • John Landis knows a thing or two about movie monsters. He's written & directed creature classics An American Werewolf in London & Michael Jackson's Thriller, and distilled decades of knowledge into a new book, Monsters in the Movies.
  • Dead of Night: Stephen King stories on stage in NoHo. Cast from the short story, 'The Ten O'Clock People.' This post was going to be a review of The Visceral Company's Dead of Night, six short plays based on stories by horror master Stephen King. • The story is almost biblical -- son assumes role of father, daughter rebels against presumed right to parental legacy. In this case, though, the children are the offspring of a gangsta rap legend Eazy-E. The question at hand? Who will play the mogul in an upcoming biopic.
  • John Leguizamo's latest autobiographical one-man show, "Ghetto Klown," the fifth in a series that started with "Mambo Mouth" in 1991, captures the hyperbolically charismatic performer in a reflective, almost analytic, mode. Of course even a reflective and analytical Leguizamo on his own operates at a more frenetic pace than a pack of hounds picking up the scent of their prey.
  • Street artist Mr. Brainwash likes to go big, and since he calls L.A. home, this is where he is set to launch what is being called "his largest and most ambitious Los Angeles exhibition to date." With an as-yet unspecified "late October" opening, Mr. Brainwash (aka Thierry Guetta) will include his work, and the work of invited and select global artists in "Art Show 2011."
