Support, Relief And Memes: Reactions To WGA Agreement
Now that the Writers Guild of America strike is over and the details of their tentative deal have been shared publicly. Now, social media users are reacting with words of support, and of course, memes.
WGA member Joe Russo (@joerussotweets) was ready to start writing as soon as the clock struck midnight Wednesday.

Americana At Brand Memes (@americanamemes) highlighted a few (fake) points in the agreement.

-If the room is getting Sweetgreen for lunch, a second, more exciting option will also be provided.
-Writers will have priority to outlets at all Silver Lake coffee shops. pic.twitter.com/30Um6S8I4N
Patrick McDonald (@patrickmcd0nald) poked fun at writers being a little rusty with pitches now that many of them are able to get back to work. Personally, I have questions for the weather-predicting macaroni.

Clara (@thatclarafied) said the picket lines feel a little different without the striking writers.
I'm out with SAG-AFTRA and let me tell you they are WALKING. Turns out it was the writers setting the pace before 💀

Sorry, Washington Post Tik-Tok Dad (@davejorgenson), SAG-AFTRA is still on strike, so you'll probably have to wait a little longer.
The strike has been over for six hours, where is Severance season 2

On a more serious note, WGA member Helen Shang (@helenshang) hung up her strike captain's hat and is preparing for her latest role.
My last tweet as strike captain! Soon I will metamorphosize into just a writer (and room captain). It's been real. Every moment mattered to me. And it was worth it. pic.twitter.com/8DkjbCZvmr

Jennifer Iacopelli (@jennifercarolyn) is particularly proud of the AI regulations in the WGA agreement.
As an author, I genuinely want to kiss the feet of the #WGA NegCom who got the studios to commit that AI isn't writing. Stuff like this tends to trickle down through industries. You all may have saved so many more than just your own!! x pic.twitter.com/6MiZ16XgZH

Kirsten (@kircarey) also celebrated the AI regulations, which had been a sticking point in negotiations.
THEY GOT IT IN THE CONTRACT THAT AI CANNOT BE USED TO WRITE OR REVISE SCRIPTS!!

Amazing. Incredible. Congratulations to the WGA and any other creatives who were nervously watching how this strike could impact their futures (e.g., me). https://t.co/r3TM5TJGNo
While some productions are still on pause with SAG-AFTRA on the picket lines, Last Week Tonight (@lastweektonight) with John Oliver said they'll have a new episode out this weekend.
Now that the WGA strike is over, we’re so excited to say we’ll be back this Sunday with a new episode! That’s right, after five long months, we’re finally going to let John out of his hole. But we promise, he’s been very happy in there. He's had water and toys and everything.
