The Rye Fire, which broke out Tuesday morning in Santa Clarita, has scorched 7,000 acres and is currently five percent contained, according to Cal Fire.

There have been no reported injuries. About 775 firefighters were battling the flames. The brush fire was first reported around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday near Rye Canyon Loop.

Residents of the Westridge area of Santa Clarita were allowed to return to their homes, but some evacuations remained in place, L.A. County fire officials said.

All schools in the William S. Hart Union High School District will be open Wednesday. Schools in the Simi Valley Unified School District are closed Wednesday.

EVACUATION ORDERS

Mandatory evacuations remain in place for the Valencia Travel Village in Castaic, but they have been lifted for the unincorporated community of West Ridge, according to the L.A. Sheriff's Department.

Correction: An earlier version of this post listed the wrong address for the Valencia High School evacuation shelter. The information was relayed from county officials, who have since updated the information.
