Motorhead's Lemmy gets a life-size statue on the Sunset Strip
Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister, the hard-living Motorhead frontman who died in December 2015, was honored with a life-size, bronze statue. It's in the perfect spot — at the Rainbow Bar & Grill, one of his favorite watering holes.
The Sunset Boulevard bar unveiled the statue on Wednesday, August 24, reports Blabbermouth.
The work was created by local artist Travis Moore, who originally cast the statue as an 18-inch miniature before it was upsized into a six-foot tall piece.
Fans had raised more than $22,000 for the statue's construction.
It will be part of a permanent shrine to Lemmy in the Rainbow Room's bar area.
