Free weekend? No Pants Metro Ride returns to SoCal

Soothe your holiday hangover with a handful of cheap and entertaining events. How about a night of improv, followed by tamales, wine and a liberating Metro ride? Here's everything you need to know.

Kick off the weekend with a late-night comedy show at Hollywood's Improv, "Yabba Dabba Doobie." Burlesque star Selene Luna will host the event with her friend and comedian Margaret Cho as the headliner. Also taking the stage: Actor John Roberts, who voices Linda Belcher on "Bob’s Burgers," and Wendy Ho, who you may recognize from her parody videos on YouTube. The theme of the night is marijuana in light of Cho's new Amazon series, "Highland."

Get in line to see Improv Shmimprov perform at Maverick Theater in downtown Fullerton. The line forms in front of a church, but that is definitely not where you are headed. This situational comedy show is nestled in the SoCo district, and it's a hidden gem at only $5 per ticket — that is, unless you are daring enough to roll the admission dice at the ticket booth and pay what you roll. The improv troupe engages the audience from the second the doors open, and when the show ends at midnight you can recover from the fun going by grabbing a couple of craft beers at Hopscotch or a nighttime latte at the Night Owl.

When: 11 p.m. every Friday and Saturday
