One witness who was in a vehicle when the guard rails were coming down said that it looked like the man attempted to beat the train, according to El Monte Police Lt. Christopher Cano.

Cano said that the department is expecting the investigation to last another hour and half to two hours. There is a full road closure on Cogswell Road.

"At this time we are working with investigative authorities to have rail service resumed," said Metrolink spokesperson Scott Johnson, adding that the San Bernardino Line's Twitter account will have updates.
