Surviving in the Age of Megafires
How do we survive in the age of climate change driven megafires? The Big Burn podcast from LAist Studios tries to answer that complex question by exploring how we got here, how we keep screwing things up, and what we can do to survive and even thrive while the world around us burns. In this live event, The Big Burn podcast host Jacob Margolis (he/him) and guests will get to the root causes of these fires and whether there’s any hope to be found, or if our entire world is destined to turn to ash.
We’ll also be answering any burning questions that you might have.
- Derek Bart, retired Fire Captain for L.A. County, where he fought fires for over three decades
- Stephanie Pincetl, Professor at UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability and Director of the California Center for Sustainable Communities
- Dr. Theresa Gregor (Siny/She/Her), Professor in the American Indian Studies department at California State University Long Beach
Cool down from the heat with a Kona Ice shave ice! The first 50 guests to check-in will receive a cold treat on us.
The Big Burn is produced and distributed by LAist Studios.
